Company Profile:

Our client is a well known publisher and they are need of a sales manager to manage a group of 10 sales people to sell advertising space in their hard copy as well as online publication. You will manage a staff of 10 outside sales people who sell to customers and advertising agencies.


Manage, train and coach a team of senior advertising sales consultants while ensuring the realization of ad revenue objectives through the planning, organization, direction and evaluation of business development activities targeted at specific retail and national categories
Identify training and development needs and coach and train as required (one-on one / on 4-legged calls / in groups) making sure the team achieves the agreed objectives
Determine the key effort priorities in all business plans and develop specific strategies capable of meeting sales and profitability objectives.
Establish a clear vision for the sales team and create a motivating environment for the team to achieve its goals.
Perform performance reviews.
Annual and monthly budgetting responsibilities.
Develop negotiation strategy for key clients and ensure timely outcome of process.
Monitor and track business plan progress, initiating corrective activity, and communicating plan results internally.
Resolve customer objections.
Negotiate major deals.
Set specific and measurable goals for team and individual members.
Establish and maintain meaningful /cooperative relationships with internal and client decision-makers.
Manage performance of staff
Develop strategies to build sales volume from underperforming areas.
Negotiate new contracts with customers/agencies.

Job Requirements:

Academic Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent relevant post-secondary education or experience
Languages *Perfect bilingualism needed; clients are Francophone and you will deal with national advertising firms located in Toronto.
Experience 5 or more years of sales management (of an outside sales team)experience and a proven track record of success
Experience in the media industry, preferably in magazine, newspaper and/or online applications, is an asset.
  High level of enthusiasm, energy and desire to win.
Individuals in this position must be proactive, and perform well under pressure while juggling with many priorities at once.
They must be entrepreneurial in nature and capable of demonstrating a high level of both social and analytical skills.


Full benefits package.

Commissions = 20% of the base salary.
