Our client is a growing ingredients manufacturer looking to hire a Director of Marketing and Communications. This position is for someone who loves food, has the ability to taste and has a marketing background with some sales. Your role will be help determine and create demand for our products by working with the sales force and our customer base to determine what is important to them. You will develop strategies,branding, packaging, the message, media and merchandising. In tis role you will manage 2 people and a your own budget.

Functions:

Identify main client groups and audiences and determine the best way to communicate publicity information to them.
Formulate, direct, and coordinate marketing activities and policies (Product, Branding, Packaging, Advertising Message, Advertising Media, Internet Media, Merchandising and Public Relations) to promote products and services, working with sales managers.
Identify, develop, and evaluate marketing strategy, based on knowledge of company objectives, market characteristics, and cost and markup factors.
Hire, train, and evaluate marketing and customer service staff and oversee their daily activities.
Evaluate the financial and marketability aspects of product development, including budgets, expenditures, research and development appropriations, organoleptic profile, packaging, and return-on-investment / profit-loss projections.
Develop pricing strategies, balancing company objectives and customer satisfaction.
Write interesting and effective press releases in both English and French, prepare information for media kits and develop and maintain company internet or intranet web pages.
Create, and Maintain lists of, product descriptions, service offerings, press releases, website content, and other communications
Initiate market research studies and analyze their findings
Use sales forecasting and strategic planning to ensure the sale and profitability of products, lines, or services, analyzing business developments and monitoring market trends.
Develop and maintain the company's corporate image and identity, which includes the use of logos, signage and branding

Job Requirements:

Academic Bachelor or university certificate in Marketing
Languages Bilingualism, both French & English (written & spoken)
Experience A minimum of 5 years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is needed for this position: several years of work-related experience, on-the-job training, and/or vocational training.
  Must be action oriented
Strong understanding and/or experience in sales
Customer focused
Strong written skills particularly in English
Can taste and perceive different flavours as you will be asked to test in our lab
