Profile: Our client is a manufacturer of industrial abrasives looking for a General Manager (Sales) to run Canada from Montreal. You will manage   a sales team made up of Sales Managers, sales reps, admin staff and independent reps. Your experience in selling to industrial distributors and promoting to end users is valuable. You have experience leading a team and managing a P&L and producing profitable sales. Please submit your resume in English.

Salary: Base $125,000

Commissions/Bonus: $25,000 at 100% of plan

Car allowance: $9,000 per year + gas+ oil changes

Expenses reimbursement: All reasonable expenses reimbursed

  • Provide direction for region in terms of top and bottom line
  • Provide direction to Sales Managers and their reps in terms of funnel management, target clients and KPIs needed to achieve the numbers
  • Drive end-user demand by visits, applications and close working relationships
  • Provide visibility to our brand by working with our marketing folks
  • Produce strong quarterly forecasting to head office
  • Work with head office for distribution strategy
  • Ensure that revenue and gross margin targets are met
  • Provide leadership and create sales culture
  • Manage hiring, training, development and performance management of staff members
  • Collaborate with senior management in terms of the local strategy
  • Oversee logistics

Job Requirements:


Development vs Maintenance: 50% vs 50%

Road vs Office:   50% vs 50%

Languages: French and English

Education: College degree and higher preferred

Training: On the job training provided

Overnight Travel: Up to 30% travel in Canada, US and internationally

Years’ of experience: At least 7 years in a sales management role required

Other requirements: Ability to work with international head office

Transferable contacts: Contacts within industrial distributors
