Sirius Personnel is a Placement and Headhunting Agency that Specializes in Sales and Marketing Professionals in Montreal.

Our client is a manufacturer of consumer goods. The role of this position will be to increase sales, distribution and product penetration in Canada and possibly internationally. The Business Development manager will have to maintain an established client base, increase the business volume of these clients and develop new alliances with targeted clients in the territories that will be assigned to you. The candidate we are looking for has already sold products (food or otherwise) to head offices of grocery stores, hardware stores and department stores. You know the lingo, have initiated sales and negotiated contracts. This role is for a professional with strong contacts in this type of accounts.

Territory: Canada

Work Place: Home office

Products/Services: Grocery items/consumer goods

Salary: $80,000 base

Commissions/Bonus: % on sales, commissions paid quarterly

Car allowance: KM allowance

Expenses reimbursement: All travel related expenses reimbursed

  • Increase our visibility;
  • Ensure the sale and promotion of products in order to meet and exceed annual sales objectives;
  • Negotiate long-term contracts;
  • Keep customers informed on the various products offered, prices, availability of the merchandise and on-time delivery;
  • Develop and deliver excellent business presentations to category managers, buyers, etc;
  • Develop a cohesive business plan for our target market;
  • Work closely with marketing, logistics and office orders;
  • Collaborate with management in the creation of the marketing plan, planning and strategic direction of the company's business development
  • Maintain up-to-date information in our CRM (Salesforce);
  • Manage staff including at least 1 person to sales and another to internal sales

Job Requirements:


Development vs Maintenance: 75% vs 25%

Road vs Office: 60% vs 40%

Languages: Perfectly bilingual

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Training: On the job training provided

Overnight Travel: about 25% travelling

Years’ of experience: At least 5 years selling to retail head offices

Other requirements: Superior knowledge of navigating all levels of an organization

Transferable contacts: You have sold to mostly head offices in Canada 5 years in sales including 2 years selling to food, hardware or retail sectors

Transferable Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Salesforce would be an asset
  • Superior presentation skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Proficient in Microsoft office
  • Superior relationship building skills
