Profile: Our client is a manufacturer of industrial abrasives looking for a Territory Manager to handle their vertical market of wood clients in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Your responsibility will include taking care of an existing customer base of clients as well as the distributors through which they order. You will also be tasked with growth within your territory  which includes driver end-user usage business, performing demos and selling to distributors. This is an outside sales role where you will be responsible for being in constant contact with your clients and looking for new ones. You must have experience selling into the wood   industry, construction and decoration or interior finishing industries.

Territory: Greater Toronto Are and as north as Barrie

Workplace: Work from home

Products/Services: Industrial abrasives

Salary: Base $58,000-$63,000

Commissions/Bonus: 20% on base salary (divided quarterly)

Car allowance: $9k annual for car + gas

Expenses reimbursement: All work-related expenses reimbursed

  • Call on existing customer base and develop new wood industry business
  • Drive end-user business to distributors which includes window and door manufacturers, woodshops and   dry wallers etc
  • Expand wallet share within customer base
  • Assist clients with purchasing through their distributors
  • Provide training to end users, distributors and their field sales reps
  • Negotiate long-term contracts
  • Deliver presentations
  • Work closely with marketing
  • Input all sales info in CRM and keep up to date
  • Keep up to date on our products and services
  • Maintain company-set KPIs

Job Requirements:

Development vs Maintenance: 50% vs 50%

Road vs Office: 80% vs 20%

Languages: English

Education: College degree or equivalent experience

Training: On the job training provided

Overnight Travel:   Up to 1week per month

Years’ of experience: at least 3-5 years selling to the wood industry

Other requirements:

  • must possess a vehicle that can hold small demo equipment
  • valid driver's license with no criminal background
  • must be able to walk on construction projects/garages etc
  • the person who will succeed here is highly organized and self-disciplined

Transferable contacts: Has sold into the wood industry

Transferable Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the wood, decorative or interior finishing sector is a big plus
  • Successful territory planning knowledge
  • Experience preparing professional sales presentations
