Job Description:

Profile: Our client is a well-known steel importer looking to hire a selling sales manager. The role of this person is to buy steel worldwide and resell to middlemen. You will be in charge of a territory and 3 sales coordinators. You come from the steel industry, know the industry well and are strong in negotiations. You will work hand in hand with the company President and be responsible for a client base of 25.

Territory: Worldwide

Work Place: Montreal

Products/Services: Steel

Salary: Base $100,000-$125,000

Commissions/Bonus: Up to $50,000 bonus

Car allowance: $800 per month

Expenses reimbursement: All reasonable expenses reimbursed

  • Buy steel at favorable prices and at the right places
  • Actively manage your customer base
  • Negotiate long and short-term steel prices
  • Create and deliver proposals both in person and electronically
  • Travel to suppliers' locations as need be
  • Engage with your clients who are fabricators and middlemen
  • Input client and supplier information into CRM
  • Work in collaboration with sales coordinators and President

Job Requirements:


Development vs Maintenance: 20% vs 80%

Road vs Office: 20% vs 80%

Languages: Excellent English written and spoken skills

Education: Bachelor's   degree or equivalent experience

Training: We are looking for an experienced person from the industry where no training is required

Overnight Travel: Up to 20% overnight travel required globally

Years’ of experience: At least 3-5 years industry experience required

Other requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Excellent people skills

Transferable contacts: Contacts within the steel industry required

Transferable Knowledge:

  • Knowledge  and use of a CRM
  • Good knowledge of the steel industry, particularly structurals, plate, coils and rails
