Job Description:

Profile: Our client is a distributor of electrical and electronic cable and wires and is looking for a General Manager who will be responsible for sales, operations, purchasing and the overall running of the territory of Quebec and the Maritimes. The person we seek has strong roots in sales management with strong financial and operations management. You will be managing a staff of 25 which includes managers. Your role will be to take something that is good and make it better, all with a humane and strong leadership/coaching style. The team members are tenured and knowledgeable and as such, we seek someone with electrical/electronic cable and wire experience. Please provide your resume in English.

Work Place: Montreal

Products/Services: Electrical/electronic cable and wire

Salary: Base $80,000 to $100,000

Commissions/Bonus: Target income $150,000 and variable based on profit sharing

Car allowance: $590/month

Expenses reimbursement: All reasonable expenses reimbursed

  • Identify opportunities for expansion
  • Set up sales and marketing initiatives
  • People management which includes managers
  • Identifies, attracts, trains, motivates and retains outstanding employees
  • Intervenes in the resolution of delicate issues regarding relationships with customers, suppliers and employees
  • Manage operations daily
  • Increase profitability of your territory/branch
  • Calls on and services major accounts
  • Maintains relationship and negotiates contracts with suppliers
  • Reviews and analyzes systems and procedures
  • Conveys professional corporate image
  • Evaluates contribution of each employee towards the profitability of the branch and recommends distribution of profit sharing

Languages: French and English  

Education: Some university or business management necessary (Post secondary)

Training: On the job training provided

Overnight Travel: Up to 20% overnight travel

Years’ of experience:5-10 years in the field with sales and marketing and operations
